UF Impact Scholars & Spring 2022 Opportunities

1. Calling all Gator Changemakers!

  • Would you like to learn how to innovatively & sustainably solve social, environmental, and economic problems?
  • Are you interested in leveraging the power of business as a force for good?
  • Would you like to help build an inclusive, equitable, and regenerative economic system for people & the planet?
  • Do you want to be a changemaker?

Yes? Great! Join us in Spring 2022 – Mod 4 (2/28/22 – 4/22/22) in the UF Business for Good Lab: Sustainable Business Consulting course (ENT6930, 12797, 1D88 / ENT4934, section 10034, 1E88), meeting T/R 7-8th periods, entirely online synchronously via Zoom & Canvas. For more information, see: https://bit.ly/UF-businessforgoodlab-promo-spring2022

2. If you have schedule conflicts for Spring Mod 4:

Please plan to join us in Summer A for our “Emerging Enterprise Consulting: Collaboration & Capacity Building for Changemakers” course. More info about that will be shared as summer nears. It’s similar to the Business for Good Lab (in that students work on consulting teams with local ventures), but different in that the ventures are all run by folks from marginalized & historically disadvantaged backgrounds, and the projects are not necessarily focused on helping companies become certified B Corporations, instead we create capacity-building deliverables with our Community Partner Entrepreneurs (including: Impact Business Model Canvases, Social Media Marketing Strategy Handbooks, Marketing Plan & Handbooks with Email Campaigns, Pitch Videos, Sustainable Funding Strategies, and other materials specific to the needs of their CPEs, like a Cost-Benefit Analysis and a Handbook for Grant Applications).

The good news is that each of the courses above fulfills the Practice Impact requirement for Impact Scholars

3. Join Optimize, it’s now free!

Speaking of certified B Corporations & Public Benefit Corporations (and the difference between the two), one of my favorite companies (which is BOTH a Public Benefit Corporation & certified B Corp), Heroic (https://www.heroic.us), just announced that they’ve removed the paywall from their most popular platform to make it more accessible to everybody. Y’all, this is a BIG deal. I’ve been a fan of their work for years and it’s my superhero-secret-special-tool! The Social Entrepreneur behind Heroic, Brian Johnson, has created over 1000 Philosopher’s Notes (book summaries), +1s (short videos), and 101s/masterclasses, with the mission of empowering people to be the best version of ourselves so we can make a positive impact in the world.

To read more about why they’ve decided to make their core product free (and ad-free too), see: https://www.optimize.me/is-now-free
I encourage you to sign up (and tell your friends) and dive into the wealth of information & wisdom shared here: https://optimize.me/

4. Tell your friends

We’d love your help encouraging your friends to join us in class in Spring or Summer A 2022 and to apply to become UF Impact Scholars.

Message for students regarding vaccinations

AVOID MORE TESTS!

Students who receive the COVID-19 vaccine are eliminated from UF’s routine COIVD-19 testing, which is required every two weeks for a number of student groups this summer and into the fall. Get your vaccine, and that will be one less test you have to worry about! Find more information on UF routine testing here and schedule either first or second-dose vaccines at ONE.UF.
