Student Activities and Involvement Leadership Experience

The Student Activities and Involvement Leadership Experience program or SAILE is a 6-week selective leadership series for current student leaders at the University of Florida. Participants will be challenged to enhance their current positional leadership style and grow in their identity as a leader on campus.

Participants in SAILE will:

  • Maximize current leadership style
  • Gain strategies for effective delegation
  • Examine the dynamic between leader and follower
  • Increase facilitation of group dynamics
  • Aid in organizational sustainability
  • Help organizations solve complex challenges

Sessions are led by faculty, staff, and community facilitators with a strong emphasis on dialogue, interaction between participants, activities, and reflection.

Harn Museum of Art Spring 2020 Internships

UF Leadership Minor applications due next week!

Fall applications for the UF Leadership Minor are due next Wednesday, September 25, 2019!

The UF Leadership Minor is a selective university-wide minor that give students the opportunity to develop their leadership capacity.

Click on the “apply now” button below or click here to apply today! Applications will be reviewed after September 25, and students will be notified of status of acceptance and further instructions for adding the minor at that time. The next opportunity to apply after this will be late February 2020.

Students in the Leadership Minor (15 credits) will develop fundamental skills, capacities, and knowledge necessary to assume leadership, supervisory, or management positions in public, private, and non-profits organizations. Because the minor is interdisciplinary, it draws on the expertise of faculty and staff in colleges across the campus including Agricultural and Life Sciences, Business Administration, Health and Human Performance, Journalism and Communications, Psychology, and Liberal Arts and Sciences.

Coursework Requirements

  • AEC3414 Leadership Development    (3 credits)
  • 2 Leadership Electives                        (6 credits)
  • 1 Communications Course                  (3 credits)
  • 1 Ethics Course                                   (3 credits)

Academic Requirements

  • Cumulative grade point average of 3.0
  • The minor is open to all University of Florida students
  • Students must earn a B or higher in AEC 3414: Leadership Development
  • Before applying to the minor students must complete 40 credit hours and the minor must be added before a student completes 90 credit hours

Assembly for Action Grant

Are you interested in developing yourself into a better person and a better applicant for future jobs and grad school? Assembly for Action gives you the chance to win a $2,000 grant to work with a nonprofit in Gainesville to better both yourself and the nonprofit.

Assembly for Action is a four-day conference to teach students more about nonprofit and personal development. We educate and enable students to make a difference in the community through seminars on subjects including community development, non-profit leadership, entrepreneurship, the ethics of volunteerism, public speaking, and grant writing. If you are chosen as an Action Scholar, then you will work with a nonprofit and your peers to write a grant proposal to implement your project at the nonprofit. Winning grant proposals will be awarded $2,000 to make your proposal a reality.

Pre-Legal Honor Society Meeting

Pre-Legal Honor Society’s purpose is to orient undergraduate students with the legal profession and law school. We hope to achieve this through meetings in which we will hear speakers from the legal community, engage in community service projects, disseminate internship information, learn about law schools and engage in other pre-law activities. Our goal is to unite pre-law students in an organization that will benefit its members by providing the contacts, and information necessary to facilitate the application process to law school.

All PLHS members in good standing qualify for a $500 discount to a TestMasters live LSAT prep course. Come to one of our meetings to ask us about this.
