Are you eager to gain perspective about how a Fortune 50 company views their responsibility in DE&I inside and outside of their corporate walls? Are you seeking a forum that could spark ideas and learning on steps you can take at UF and in your future career to advance DE&I? In partnership with the Warrington College of Business, Procter & Gamble invites you to a special evening crafted specifically for UF students. You will have the chance to hear directly from a diverse group of P&G leaders who will focus on the following DE&I topics: P&G’s DE&I aspiration, action plan, and the journey to where we are today:

Discuss the “WHY” behind our actions to spark learning and reflection
Bias and Micro-Aggressions – P&G leaders will share personal stories and what P&G is doing to address and overcome bias in and outside our walls
Empower Community – Discuss what P&G is doing in this space to create positive impact beyond our walls
Brand Activation – Showcase how P&G is authentically portraying diverse talent and consumer groups in our work

Courageous Dialogues by Brown Center for Leadership and Service

The Brown Center for Leadership and Service is happy to announce that we will be partnering with LeaderShape to host Courageous Dialogues on October 26th from 3:00 pm-5:00 pm.

Courageous Dialogue will provide students with a framework to engage in meaningful and impactful conversations around values alignment, racial inequality, and creating stronger communities. As people continue to manage life during the pandemic, react and respond to civil unrest, and work through the dynamics of a national election this fall, we feel this topic will help organization leaders as they prepare to engage students in what could be very challenging conversations.

During this program, participants will learn how to:

  • Approach difficult conversations with an open mind.
  • See others as experts in their own experiences
  • Gain tools to engage in discussions with respect and an openness to change.

Leadership Minor Applications

Fall applications for the UF Leadership Minor are due next Friday, February 28!

The UF Leadership Minor is a selective university-wide minor that gives students the opportunity to develop their leadership capacity.

Click on the “apply now” button below. Applications will be reviewed after February 28, and students will be notified of the status of acceptance and further instructions for adding the minor at that time. The next opportunity to apply after this will be late September 2020.

Students in the Leadership Minor (15 credits) will develop fundamental skills, capacities, and knowledge necessary to assume leadership, supervisory, or management positions in public, private, and non-profits organizations. Because the minor is interdisciplinary, it draws on the expertise of faculty and staff in colleges across the campus including Agricultural and Life Sciences, Business Administration, Health and Human Performance, Journalism and Communications, Psychology, and Liberal Arts and Sciences.

Harn Museum of Art Summer 2020 Internships

Have you ever wondered what it is like to work in an art museum? Harn internships are offered with the goal of providing professional experience, growth opportunities and guidance from museum professionals. Interns have gone on to careers ranging from marketing to retail management at institutions such as the Guggenheim, Christie’s Auction House, and LACMA.

Hispanic Heritage Month at UF is a month-long celebration held every year in the Fall showcasing Latinx traditions and appreciation for culture! Volunteer with GRACE Grows

In partnership with the University of Florida Doctor of Plant Medicine Program, we conduct a vocational training program for individuals to learn about horticulture and gain job skills. Participants of the program have the opportunity to become Certified Horticulture Professionals after completing the course. For individuals that have experienced trauma, spending time in the garden also promotes mental and physical health. Volunteer gardeners and GRACE Marketplace guests work together to grow fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs to be prepared in the GRACE Marketplace Café 131 where individuals experiencing homelessness may come to enjoy nutritious food produced with tender love and care.

We gladly welcome all students, staff, or faculty interested in volunteering, but are especially looking for:

  • Board Members
  • Photographer
  • Social Media/Community Engagement/Marketing
  • Gardeners (no experience necessary!)

Assembly for Action Executive Director Application

Applications are now open to lead Assembly for Action as the 2020 Executive Director. Assembly for Action is an annual community service conference that educates students on Gainesville’s key development needs and enables them to make a difference through nonprofit collaboration and grant awards. The Executive Director leads a team of about two dozen staff and serves as liaison with conference sponsors, including various community partners, colleges, and top UF administrators. The ideal Executive Director would be an undergraduate or graduate student at the University of Florida who has demonstrated leadership ability and prior experience in nonprofit development and/or event management. All majors and grade levels are encouraged to apply. Applications are due to assemblyforaction.org/exec-app by January 5, 2020, at 11:59 am.

Hartfield Insurance Group, Inc. is an independent insurance agency that concentrates on life and health insurance, focusing on client risk awareness and management. We are seeking hardworking individuals to assist and work with the owner of the company, Larry Hartfield. Applicants must have basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, be detailed oriented, and have excellent communication skills. These individuals should like to produce new creative solutions and take pride in a job well done by maintaining accurate client records. Responsibilities and duties for this position include:

  • Maintaining client relationships by sending out letters/notices
  • Analyzing alternative options available to clients
  • Auditing client files, maintaining and updating database information
  • Creating Excel spreadsheets to summarize client data
  • Updating client information and making sure information systems are efficiently linked
  • Answering phones, sending client correspondence, contacting insurance providers, making copies, sending faxes, etc.

General interns may also gain some legal and financial planning experience assisting lawyer Howard M. Rosenblatt, with estate/financial planning.

The internship will consist of two to three 4-hour shifts per week (9:30am-1:30pm or 1:00pm-5pm). This is an unpaid internship that will help you gain professional experience, expose you to an active office setting, and introduce you to insurance and financial products.
