2020 UF Women’s Entrepreneurship Summit – Join us!

The 2020 Women’s Entrepreneurship Summit, presented by the Entrepreneurship & Innovation Center at the UF Warrington College of Business and the UF Collaboratory for Women Innovators at UF Innovate, offers inspirational stories and lessons learned from successful women entrepreneurs. The event provides opportunities for UF women to connect with peers and other successful business leaders to foster shared learning and community-building, as well as networking, mentoring, start-up and career advice, and career connections. This year’s [virtual] Women’s Entrepreneurship Summit will be on November 6th from 10:00-11:45 AM. You can register for the free event here.

 

The 2020 virtual event is free for all UF students, faculty, staff and members of the local community and will feature:

  • Taylor Williams (keynote), Creative Director of Guts & Glory GNV, a storytelling venture focusing on using improv and communications training to help teams and companies build positive culture, and Lead Facilitator of Guts & Glory Creative Consulting
  • Seyi Falade, Vice President of Cornerstone Barricades, a Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) service provider specializing in road construction and safety
  • Sara Schley, President of Seed Systems consulting, and WeTheChange, a non-profit for women CEOs of Certified B Corporations and other purpose driven organizations who share a belief in the power of business as a force for good
  • Dr. Bertrhude Albert, CEO and co-founder of P4H Global, a non-profit working to redefine aid by partnering with Haitian educators to provide quality teacher training
  • Robyn Crawford, Founder of Eden Books, an online publisher and bookstore of romance novels focused on elevating the voices of women authors
  • Victoria Wylde, CEO and Founder of Alterra Hemp, a hemp genetics lab & seed plant farm providing genetically-superior plants to farmers from coast to coast

Isaac Hetzroni and Michael Katz are both entrepreneurs and recent UF alumni. Isaac owns his own promotional company, Imprint Genius, and has previously worked as an Amazon consultant. Michael owns his own e-commerce store and brings in millions of dollars in sales per year. Together, they will talk about entrepreneurship, Amazon, and building an online brand. Come prepared with questions!

Wednesday 10/28 6:30pm – Canva & Resume Workshop

In this 2-part workshop, the first 30 minutes will be dedicated to an intro to Canva, a website that lets you create beautiful graphics. If you have a good eye for design you won’t want to miss it! The second half of the meeting will be a resume workshop led by the CAP Mentors, so bring your resume and learn how to format it correctly!

Come with questions and prepare to be wowed!

Harn Museum of Art Fall 2020 Internships

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to work in an art museum? Harn internships are offered with the goal of providing professional experience, growth opportunities and guidance from museum professionals. Interns have gone on to careers at institutions such as the Guggenheim, Christie’s Auction House and LACMA.

Fall 2020 Academic & Study Abroad Scholarship Deadline: May 1

Fall 2020 scholarship applications are due soon! Awards range from $500 – $2,000 !

The Heavener School of Business in the Warrington College of Business offers two types of undergraduate scholarships:

  • General academic scholarships for all undergraduate business majors (includes UF online program)
  • Study abroad scholarships for those participating in our study abroad programs (all majors including accounting students are eligible)

We strongly encourage students to apply. The application deadline is May 1st.

As UF has moved to online classes for the remainder of Spring and Summer A/C, we want Heavener undergraduate students to know that Gator Ready continues to provide students with new competency development opportunities online.

Students can complete tasks in Gator Ready through the Suitable app such as: 

  • ​​Create your Professional 30 Second Pitch 
  • Internship/Career Research (reflect on possible internship or job positions)
  • Activating and updating their HireWarrington account 

Students can self-report experiences and positions such as: 

  • ​​​​Reflecting on being a student tutor or teaching assistant 
  • ​Uploading proof of achievement, such as a certification in software
  • ​Reporting that they have held/currently hold an E-Board position

UF IEEE Leadership Opportunities

The University of Florida Student Chapter (UF) of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) has leadership opportunities and great events open to all majors, and ages for the upcoming academic year (Fall 2020- Spring 2021).

To give some useful context, UF IEEE seeks to develop students professionally and technically, while providing opportunities to network with peers and give back to the Gainesville community.

IEEE is the world’s largest technical professional organization. IEEE’s core purpose is to foster technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity.

UF IEEE is a spectacular opportunity for a business or marketing students involvement portfolio in particular for 4 reasons.

Leadership Minor Applications

Fall applications for the UF Leadership Minor are due next Friday, February 28!

The UF Leadership Minor is a selective university-wide minor that gives students the opportunity to develop their leadership capacity.

Click on the “apply now” button below. Applications will be reviewed after February 28, and students will be notified of the status of acceptance and further instructions for adding the minor at that time. The next opportunity to apply after this will be late September 2020.

Students in the Leadership Minor (15 credits) will develop fundamental skills, capacities, and knowledge necessary to assume leadership, supervisory, or management positions in public, private, and non-profits organizations. Because the minor is interdisciplinary, it draws on the expertise of faculty and staff in colleges across the campus including Agricultural and Life Sciences, Business Administration, Health and Human Performance, Journalism and Communications, Psychology, and Liberal Arts and Sciences.

2020 Bank of America Spring Diversity & Inclusion Forums
